Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick airports will reach full capacity by 2030 unless new runways are built.
This is the finding of a new report by the Department for Transport, which stated that 335 million people per annum are expected to use the UK's airports in 2030, surging to 470 million in 2050.
Indeed, many businesses choose
London offices as a gateway to Britain and Europe, as the three major airports are easily accessible from the city centre and therefore prove convenient for welcoming and visiting clients, as well as sending employees to other branches.
Heathrow Airport, for example, is serviced by the Heathrow Express train which runs non-stop every 15 minutes to Paddington.
The London Underground also provides access to the travel hub via the Piccadilly Line.
For those companies in the Square Mile, London City Airport is easily accessible via public transport, and the government report highlighted the facility as popular with foreign business travellers.
British Airways recently announced that more than 100,000 passengers flew with the airline from the Docklands in June, many of whom would have been travelling from
London offices to business centres like Frankfurt and Zurich.
