Rating
As the property industry gears up for the next Rating Revaluation in 2010, the Government
and the Valuation Office Agency are already aware of the political impact that property
rates has on owners and occupiers alike with the abolition of "empty property rates".
The valuation date for the 2010 revaluation is 1 April 2008. At this stage it is
important to keep a record of rental evidence for transactions that are agreed and
for those outstanding, which could influence the Valuation Officers views.
This means collating information from 2008 and not from 2010 following revaluation,
when the new rateable values have already been prepared.
In short proactive advice is required both for the forthcoming List and for those
appeals made under the 2005 List which are still outstanding.
