A pre-lease for 80,000 sq ft of space has been agreed to by Morrisons. The 7-acre site at 399 Edgware Road was previously the base of Asian retail and food hub Oriental City.
The deal has been struck between the supermarket and Development Securities, although the new food store has yet to receive planning permission.
Development Securities purchased the site in 2005 and is preparing to submit an updated planning application later in 2012. Additions include affordable housing, residential apartments and Asian retail facilities.
In 2005, joint managing director at Development Securities Julian Barwick commented: "We intend to redevelop the property to provide substantially enhanced retail accommodation, which would both maintain and enhance the existing retail offer and allow us to broaden the retailing profile into other sectors."
Oriental City, located in Colindale, NW9, was purchased by the organisation for more than £26 million. The premises, which was built in the 1980s, provided 100,000 sq ft of space.
