A radical overhaul of the area to the south of London’s Blackfriars Bridge is proposed with more than one million square feet of development in 8 new buildings. Plans to bulldoze Ludgate House on Blackfriars Road and Sampson House in Hopton Street have been released for a huge residential led scheme on the south bank of the Thames.

In addition to this substantial residential scheme, Great Portland Estates and Ropemaker Properties have started work on their high rise development at 240 Blackfriars Road where over 100,000 sq ft has been pre-let to occupier UBM, at a headline rent reported to be in excess of £45 per sq ft.

Mellersh & Harding have recently completed the valuation of a substantial investment portfolio including two office properties on Blackfriars Road and note that there continues to be healthy tenant demand for this part of Southwark. Communications are excellent with Southwark tube providing a swift link eastwards to Canary Wharf and westwards to Green Park and Bond Street. Back
