Sweett Group asked to oversee hotel in London's The Shard
Sweett Group has been selected to provide the support and contract administration services for the building of a five-star hotel in London's The Shard.

The Shangri-La At The Shard will be located from the 34th to the 52nd floors and will offer 202 rooms.

As well as the luxury accommodation, the tallest building currently under construction in Europe will contain central London offices on floors ranging from 14,770 sq ft to 31,492 sq ft in size, along with three levels of restaurants and apartments with clear views across the capital.

Commenting on the news, Sweett Group's operations director and global head of hospitality Paul Nash said: "We are delighted to have been selected by the Shangri-La Hotels Group to support them with the delivery of their first hotel in London. We are proud to be part of the team Shangri-La has assembled from across the UK and China to ensure that their vision for this landmark building is realised."

The Shangri-La At The Shard is the first five-star, new-build hotel in the centre of London for more than ten years. The group bases its hospitality on the customs of the Far East and the hotel will also offer an international restaurant, business facilities and a spa.

It has hotels around the world, with the London branch the first in the UK. Some of the other destinations served by the group include Paris, Beijing, Penang, Sydney, Bangkok, New Delhi and Dubai.

Once the skyscraper is completed in 2013, there will be 25 floors of Grade A London offices comprising almost 590,000 sq ft in which businesses can reside. It sits between Canary Wharf, the West End, the City, the South Bank and Westminster at the London Bridge Quarter.

As such, companies will be well-connected to clients in other parts of the capital, as well as their overseas offices due to the nearby public transport connections.
