London offices at White City have been granted planning permission by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
Westfield had submitted proposals for a £1 billion scheme that includes an extension to the Wood Lane shopping centre, resulting in a leisure complex and new eateries. Up to 1,522 homes will also be constructed, along with public green space.
The towers of homes will range between four and 12 storeys, with 250 of the units set to be affordable. A new mall will also be built, offering 59,000 sq ft of space that includes an anchor store.
Up to 6,700 jobs will be created under the project, which is to be completed in phases over the next 17 years.
Businesses that take up space in the new
London offices will also benefit from £3.9 million of improvements to Shepherds Bush Overground train station, such as a longer platform, a new entrance and a larger ticket office.
Commenting on the approved planning permission of the 2 million sq ft site, Hammersmith and Fulham Council's cabinet member for community engagement Harry Phibbs said: "This development is bringing positive change, improvements and jobs to an area that needs revitalising. It fits in with our vision that [the borough] should be a borough of opportunity for all and this will be a welcome boost to the local economy and community."
Westfield London shopping centre is located three miles from the centre of the capital and offers total retail space of approximately 1,614,600 sq ft. With a catchment area of 2.7 million people and 200,000 individuals working two miles from the site, the new
London offices north of the development could prove to be a strategic location for organisations.
The Westfield Stratford City development - its other major London asset - provides 1.1 million sq ft of office space, along with three hotels and 1.9 million sq ft of retail and leisure facilities.
